  5. Dear Ms. Reese,

I am reading a book called "Breathe" by Cliff Mcnish. It is a very good book because it is a ghost story. So far in the book, the most exciting part is when the ghost mother came and scared Jack and gave him an asthma attack. Jack is 10 years old and lives with his other mother, Sarah. The ghost mother isn't really Jack's mother. Before he saw her, he looked out the window and saw the ghost mother's daughter coughing up blood and dying. Jack still doesn't know how the ghost mother died yet. I predict the ghost mother committed suicide because of her daughter dying. That's all I can say for now! I don't want to ruin the story for other readers!
    Enjoy your holiday

  6. I can connect to Jeffrey's summary about "Breathe" by Cliff Mcnish with a text to text connection to "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech. Walk Two Moons is about a girl named Sal who is trying to find her dead mother with hopes to bring her back home before Sal's mother's birthday. Sal wants to know how her mother had died. This is similar to the summary about "Breathe" because Jake is trying to find out how his mother died too!

    Thanks,
    Ritika

  7. Over winter break, I am reading a book called "A Mango Shaped Space" by Wendy Mass.

Short Summary From What I have Read So Far:
Back in third grade, Mia Winchell thought her life was perfect. She could see colors out of words and shapes out of sounds and she thought everyone could see this way too. But in third grade, when she figured out that no one saw how she saw, Mia realized that her life was all mixed up. Now Mia Winchell is starting eight grade and still no one has told her what this strange and awkward case is. This is also affecting Mia's grade with a "big, fat, purple F". Finally, after a while, Mia Winchell has the courage to tell her parents about what and how she is seeing. Her parents are horrified and worried. They call the physician but apparently this doctor has never seen a case like this before. Then he gives Mia Winchell and her family another number to another doctor. Still this new doctor does not seem to know what is happening to Mia. The 2nd doctor gives Mia the number to another doctor. Finally, this last doctor knows what is happening to Mia, nothing hurtful but a condition called synesthesia. This is where your 5 senses get all tangled up with eachother. Now the question is "Does Mia want to go through synesthesia the rest of her life or does she want the doctor to help Mia go around synesthesia?"

    A connection to this book:

I can connect this book with another book called "My Brother Made Me Do It". This book is about a girl who has a painful reaction in her bones whenever she does something active. She realizes that she has junior arthritis. She will have live through it. This relates to "A Mango Shaped Space" because Mia has to live through her situation of synesthesia too.

  8. I can relate to this book Ritika read from a book called "Help I am Trapped in my sister's body. How? That's because in the book a boy named Jake wants to get trapped in her sister's body! However in order to switch bodies they have to go to the science lab. Why does he want to switch bodies with his sister Jessica? Well, he just doesn't want to go to the doctor's but his sister has done it before. How does this relate to Ritika's book? This book "Help i'm trapped in my sister's body" because Jake too has to go to the doctor's. Although it's not easy being trapped in your sister's body. He has to talk with girls that he likes, go to the mall and go shopping, ext. Mia too sees different things colorful. Jake in his sister's body has to go to the mall which is a lot colorful. Talking to his sister's friends with the most colorful dresses ever. On the second hand, at least he does not have to go to the doctors unlike his sister Jessica. That is a connection I made with Ritika's book " A Mango Shaped Space." BTW I have read a book by Wendy Mass named "The Kind of Friends we used to be!"

  9. Finishing the book "School of Fear" here is a short summary of the book!
Everyone is afraid of something. Madeline is scared of insects ESPECIALLY spiders! Theodore is worried of dying! Lulu is frightened of confined spaces! Last but not least, Garrison is horrified of deep water! However, in order to not be afraid those phobias those 4 children HAVE to attend a school in Massachusetts named the School of Fear! It is the most terrifying school in America. With a bald teacher that is a lady and a blind man that cooks the children food. HORRIFYING!!!!! However this year instead of learning how to forgot and not be scared of your fears the teacher Mrs. Wellington pretends a fake death. The blind man Schimidy , trusts the gang to rescue his beloved Mrs. Wellington's dog Marconi. From who? You must be wondering it is from a man named ... Muchaser! An evil man that hates Schimidy and take his dog . Also he wants to be the new head Mistress of School of Fear! Like I said Schimidy trusts the 4 some children to rescue Mrs. Wellington's dog Mac. While the 4 children were going on the adventure they were crossing there very own fears to rescue Mac! Back at the school, Schimidy and Mrs. Wellington were watching every move the children were making!!!! SCARY!!!! When the children arrived they saw Mrs. Wellington sitting there at the dining room table! Terrified Mrs. Wellington explained to the children that all of it was fake and made sure that they weren't afraid of their fears. To end it off the children not afraid of their fears and actually enjoyed that summer at School of Fear!!!
I recommend you to read this book. Why? Well, because it is a fun and spooky book!!!

  10. How can I connect to the book I read "School of Fear" ? I can connect to my book because I too am scared of insects, deep water, confined spaces, and dying! I would kind of enjoy going to School of Fear! WHY? That's because I am afraid of moths A LOT!!! So by going to School of Fear I would not be afraid of moths any more ! Just like Maddie she was done with all of her bug repellent and had to go through a summer with bugs EVERYWHERE!!!! At the end of the summer, she was not afraid of bugs. Well, maybe a little bit! A question I have is ... The author of
"School of Fear was he afraid of what the 4 children were afraid of? If so then is he afraid of those fears anymore???

  11. According to the summary of "School of Fear" that Dua wrote I figured that the moral of the story is to stick up for youself and other people. You should also be brave! This is how life rolls. I realized that this was the moral of the story because Madison, Theodore, Lulu, and Garrison have one bad phobia of different types and in order to get rid of these phobias, the children have to attend a school made to get rid of these things. Then the teacher of the classroom made a plan to trick the kids into going through the phobias that they experience to save their nice teacher's dog. And this worked out on them! As Dua said, Maddie was not scared of bugs anymre and that must have helped her a lot by going through life situations. So basically, the moral of this story is telling you to be brave!

  12. I can connect to Dua's book called "Help, I am Trapped in my Sister's Body" because this book reminds me of another book by Louis Sachar. It is called "Marvin Redpost: Is He a Girl?" This relates to "Help, I am Trapped In my Sister's Body: because in "Is He A Girl?" someone in Mrvin's class tells Marvin that if you kiss your own elbow you turn into your oppisite gender. As weird as it was, curious Marvin Redpost decides to try it for himself. That night, Marvin turns and twists and jumps and slides just to try to kiss his elbow. Finally, somehow, Marvin has gotten his mouth to his elbow and has even kissed it! Wow! Later that morning, Marvin begins to act very strange! "[He] wishes he had pigtails like his little sister. "[Marvin] even dots his i's with little hearts!" Marvin is acting exactly like a girl! In the book that Dua had read called "Help, I am Trapped in my Sister's Body!" Jake is scared to go to the doctor's office but his sister has done it before. He wants to turn into a girl/his older sister! In both books that I am talking about the main character becomes a girl or wants to become a girl. Marvin Redpost is his little sister and Jake wants to become his older sister!

  22. I can relate to the summary of School of Fear: book 3 that Katelyne wrote with a text to text connection. I can relate that book to another book called "The Mysterious Benedict Society" beecause in this book, bright kids must go through a top secret mission in order to stop an evil man stealing info from children's brains. Based on the summary that Katelyne has wrote, "The Mysterious Benedict Society" relates to " School of Fear: book three" because in "School of Fear: book three" the kids also have to go through a top secret mission in order to stop Sylvia from exposing the other kid's secrets.

    THANKS,
    RITIKA
