Fall Classroom Party & Conferences

Good Morning!

I can't believe Fall Break is almost here. The year is flying by so fast! With that being said, it's time to think about preparations for a fall party on Monday, October 31. This is the first day back to school after fall break so we need to get planning ASAP. I did not have any parents volunteer at Curriculum Night to be our "Room Mom" or "Room Dad" so I am up for any suggestions or help you might be able to provide. Please respond to this post, email, or call me if you would like to volunteer for the Fall Party. Thank you!

Be on the lookout over fall break for parent/teacher conference sign-ups. I am currently in the process of setting up the schedule on line so you will receive notification via email and this blog. There will be directions on how to sign up. I've been assured that it is fast and easy! Conference week is November 7-11 and there will be time slots available before, during, and after school to make it as convenient as possible.

  5. Today I learned at Ameritowne that when u are a grown up u have a LOT of responsibilitys and u can't just keep spending ur money or else u will be indebt.I experienced that at Ameritowne. Also when u are older u have to spend ur money wisley or else u will be indebt and u can't by the thing u want or u will have to pay a ticket if u leave without paying. I think these are some of the things that we had to learn about so when we grow up NONE of these things happen to us.I also learned that when I grow up I have to be nice to customers or else i won't get ANY at all. I think that Ameritowne will show us kids what it is like to be a grown up and so we can prepare for this. Ameritowne is a really good example because the workers are a good influence on us the 5th graders. The workers are a good influence because when they made Ameritowne it basically shows us what we have to do when we grow up.(This comment was by Ashley)

  8. On October 13th I learned you have to be VERY responsible with your money. Why should I be responsible with my money? Well, if you're not then bad things will happen for instance you will be overdrawn.Another, thing I learned in Ameritowne is that no goofing around when a customer is in your shop or else you will have bad customer service.Last but not least, if you have 5 more products left and you see a long line then you should bring up your price so less people would buy it.However, if you are not having very good business and nothing has been sold the best way is to lower the price of your products so more people would come to your store to buy your products! Overall Ameritowne was fun but it also taught me how being an adult is very important!

Learning to be an adult is very helpful. Young Ameritowne is a place that teaches you exactly how to be responsible and how to handle your money seriously, how to make your money, and how to run a successful business. During my day at and lessons of Ameritowne, I was taught those things. I was the bank president and I was basically running the whole bank. Our biggest goal was to make a profit. In order to get this profit, everyone working at the bank had to make sure that gave out awesome customer service, we worked together as a team, and did the work inside of our responsibilities. Fortunately, our team did that and made a nice profit. During my break times, I spent my money wisely on my wants of goods and services in the Towne. I made sure that I didn't spend all my money and kept track of it with the check register in my checkbook. Luckily, I didn't get overdrawn OR bankrupt, I still had a good amount of money in my checking account. I think this progam was helpful, educational, and fun at the same time. I loved Young Ameritowne and I really hope this program will lead me to a succesful life later on.

  10. Young Ameri townwe was a very fun anfd learning field trip for me. I learned how to budget my money by taking out cash from my pay check and pay the fees for the tv station stadio, and saving my money for things i wanted and needed.I also learned how to keep a job,It is very important to be on time and never late,Knowing what to do and follwing directions.the last thing I learned was about stocks and how they can change very quickly,It all depends on the company and the economy, if they are doing well by consumers buying services, goods, and products you get more money but if the company is not selling items well the cash goes down. Ameritowne is one of thebest field trips I will ever remember.I hope that sometime I wil be able to do it agian and I recommend that all kids go to ameri towne so they can learn and have fun

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! I am so happy and grateful to be a part of the Buffalo Trail community and especially the wonderful 5th grade team. This is my 2nd year at BTE and my 12th year of teaching. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades in Kentucky and Colorado. Before moving to Denver three years ago, I lived in Northern Kentucky near Cincinnati, Ohio. I earned a BS from the University of Kentucky and my MAT from the University of Louisville. In 2007, I became a National Board Certified Teacher with an emphasis in Early/Middle Childhood Reading and Language Arts. In my free time, I love to read, ride my bike, try new restaurants, and go to concerts/sports events. I love cheering my teams on during basketball season, hiking, and skiing. I am loving Colorful Colorado and look forward to our new adventures together!
